Telenet chooses Stoneroos as iDTV games provider (04 - 06 - 2004)

Flanders, the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, is preparing itself for the introduction of interactive digital television in the first month of 2005. The government, cable company, public and commercial broadcasters are working side by side to make the project “Vlaanderen Interactief” into a success.
The Flemish cable company Telenet has chosen the iDTV games of Stoneroos to fill up the FUN area of its iDTV portal. As of June 4, three different StoneGames will be made available in phases to a test panel of 300 households in Belgium. When the Telenet iDTV platform is officially introduced in 2005, there should be seven different StoneGames available to all households in Flanders that own a suitable digital receiver.
The StoneGames have been developed for those television viewers that want to be entertained in between programmes with a fun and exiting game. Stoneroos previously build games for the Dutch iDTV platforms. The Willem Wever TV Games are still playable on the OpenTV and Liberate set-top boxes of UPC Digital. The new StoneGames will be built in MHP. MHP (Multimedia Home Platform) is considered by many to be the future European standard for interactive digital television.
Annelies Kaptein, CEO of Stoneroos, is very pleased with this first step of Stoneroos on the Flemish market: “the Flemish iDTV market will grow enormously in the coming years. There is consensus about a standard and the Flemish government has made subsidies available in order to promote the creation of content. Stoneroos has been creating interactive applications since 2001. We are appreciated because we work with programme makers to create a stronger interactive concept and because we are able to deliver a technically perfect result. As we develop in OpenTV, Liberate and MHP we have a lot to offer to the Flemish market as well as any other iDTV market.”
